Creationism vs. Evolution This paper will focus on the huge controversy between Creationism and Evolution. I will provide two opposing viewpoints on this subject. First, the discussion will focus on the question of why many people believe that God created the universe and all living things. On the other end of the spectrum, scientific information will be presented that substantiates the evidence against the existence of God. This creationism counter-argument known as evolution has its roots in our contemporary understanding of a progressive process of natural evolution. This process shaped the nature of all living things beginning with single-cell organisms and ending with highly complex creatures such as humanoids.†¦show more content†¦Because of this, each consecutive generation will exhibit more offspring with the more successful trait. The phrase â€Å"survival of the fittest† is derived from the process of continuous adaptation and selective survival based on most successful inherited traits. (Biographies, 2000). Even though many people believe that the theory of evolution was Darwin’s personal idea and creation, several of his thoughts actually existed before his time. Back in time of the ancient Greeks, the concept of life evolving came about. Two Greek philosophers, Anaximander and Empedocles had theories stating that all animals, as well as human beings, began in the vast waters of the earth, the oceans. From these theories, it was said that some animals left their natural habitat, the water, and adapted to life on land. Furthermore, the Greeks wrote about natural selection, but they did not provide a specific explanation as to how evolution would work. Because of these already known facts, the focal point of Charles Darwin’s theory was formed and an explanation to his theory of evolution came to life (Spetner 3). However, creationism is a contemporary adaptation of the timeless parable of the clash between Good and Evil.
